TAG REC Family,

Although you have been on to ON A MISSION from Q for months now, this week marks our official push of the song on a big level. Your local station should have On A Mission, so call them up and request it. We are going big in 09 with Q Da Kid and your support is much appreciated.
Please request that song for us!

On another note… As a label, we stay committed to providing new platforms for new artists to get their shine. We are committed to the community. If the community is successful, we will be successful. Please keep uploading your videos on our Myspace page. We all check those out…(JD, Core DJs, Q and the staff) all the time – watching battles, looking at the winners, and even approving the videos. Make sure to keep those tracks radio friendly or we cannot approve them. Those are the rules. Nothing is worse than hearing 4 minutes of a hot track, only to have the last lyric be the N-word and we gotta deny.
Keep it clean! And if you do use the N-word, say it early in the track so we can deny it quick and don’t have to listen to the whole thing!!! LOL

Keep an eye out for more big news and big opps from TAG Records in 09. We have some crazy plans.

Go request On A Mission on your local radio station… keep uploading tracks, and stay tuned. Oh yeah… pick up some bodyspray too. That is important. Smell good in 09. That is our motto.

Much success!! Thank you for supporting the movement!

“Q Da Kid may be a relatively new of name to some, but expect that to soon change. The Brooklyn bred rapper has been working closely with producer/entrepreneur Jermaine Dupri for the last couple years and is now ready to let his voice be heard.

A former member of the group Da Franchise (with Gravy and Red CafĂ©), Q signed to thexxlmag-logo newly launched TAG Records this past summer as their first artist. Backed by the support of JD and a strong marketing campaign, he is preparing to release his debut, It Was All A Dream, in the first quarter of 2009.”

q-da-kid1Jake Paine of HipHopDX.com sat down recently with Kareem Savage, aka Q da Kid, to talk about his history (BROOKLYN!!!) and making history as TAG Records first recording artist.

“That relationship led to the TAG deal. However, given the major backing Q has, he may be in a greater position than most debuting artists with bringing attention back to New York. He recognizes the accountability that comes with that though. “Being that I’m from Brooklyn, a lot of the great emcees came from [here]. So there’s a lot of pressure at the end of the day. People expect a lot ’cause a lot of great music came from here,Q says, citing Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z [click to read], Lil Kim and Shyne. “I gotta make sure my music is correct, and it represents Brooklyn and Hip Hop as a whole. That’s what I’m trying to do.” It’s bigger than New York to Q. “I’m not trying to be a regional artist. I’m trying to be an artist that can go to Africa or China and perform.

Air Jordan One of our new favorite bloggers, Xclusives Zone, highlights two new video blog posts from TAG Records’ own Jermaine Dupri and his sometime partner in the game, BOW WOW. It seems that JD and Bow Wow share more than their love for hip hop, as they both show off their new Nike Air Jordans.

Check it out as JD attempts to one up Bow Wow in the battle of the kicks vol 1.
