TAG Records Style Blog reports on the scenes seen at the 2008 Magic Convention

I arrived in Vegas on Saturday, and it was on, my chaperon (who brought a fully charged camera) and I to make it happen. I had no choice that’s what I was there to do.

So I showered, and started the process. Sprayed myself with my “Make move” by Tag and dawned my finest couture and headed to the Ritz Carlton. There I saw the newly crowned king of Hip Hop and queen of New York, Jay Z and Beyonce.. The event was named circ de Jay Z, I missed the dinner, but the atmosphere at the after party was sexy, drinks flowed and food served, what more can you ask for??

The following day I spend the time networking and making plans for the night and the rest of the week. I met colleagues for dinner to discuss my reasons for being in Sin City.

Monday marks the beginning of the Men Apparel Gild In California a.k.a. MAGIC. That’s when my hunt for what New, Fresh and Fashion Forward. I started at the top and ended at the street wear. I was sometimes Surprised, sometimes not impressed and sometimes asking myself why did some of these vendors spend money to Las Vegas Who am I to talk? who died and left me lord of fashion? That’s what some may think but I know good from bad fashions. That’s how I make my living …and damn good one. Oops! Did I say that??

Night is upon me, Monday oh yea its Complex and Giant with Baby Phat parties, which one do I attend? I will do both! …and did I do them. Looking stunning, by the way, did you expect anything else? I partied with the first lady of Phat Fashions and her super star beau, Kimora and Djimon. What a night.

Tuesday was the crème de la crème of my trip- The Project convention. I was totally at home, quality tailoring, great cuts and forward fashions. I felt anyone that came to this show would have the same full filling experience. I stayed there the entire day, there was so much to see and free giveaways. I even locked down a gig! Go Roger!

Overall the trip was a great success for me. Can’t wait to see what next year brings! MTC

PS. Don’t forget to all ways smell your best, when you dress.

Celebs Make Moves at the TAG Records Launch Party

The moment we were waiting for just arrived, and what better place to make your first appearance than the night before the hottest urban gathering: The BET Awards! The celebs came out to support JD and IDJ’s newest venture: the launch of Tag records and at center stage was Tag body spray. The red carpet was filled with tons of stars from music and television dressed to impress. They were all doing it up pretty good – simple but very stylish. At first I thought they didn’t go all out, but I realized they were saving that for the other big night, the awards.

The star of the evening, JD, was shinning in a nice white suit with one of my favorite t- shirts by Marc Jacobs. Great choice of color for that evening; if it got too hot inside the DJ booth he wouldn’t have to disrobe. He also smelled really good. I know because I was on the red carpet with him. It was TAG, of course!

There were a lot of young Hollywood starlets in attendance, like Tia Mowry and her co- star Shanti Lowry from the CW 11 hit The Game looking hot and sexy. Love them and the show. I saw Taraji P Henson with fellow actresses Nia Long and Sanaa Lathan keeping it simple and summery and clearly having a blast.

Nas and Kelis slipped by the red carpet, looking hot and sexy. What a tasty twosome. David Banner was happy to talk and why not? The dude hit us with a bit of Italy – Gucci that is – and let’s not forget his John Varvatos Converse kicks.

One of the night’s first arrivals set the stage of what would come. Tischina Arnold from “Everybody Hates Chris.” No one was hating her tuxedo style mini dress. Macy kept it Gray. Get it? Macy Gray. Unfortunately that’s not true because she wore tons of color in the theme of summer.

We had the rock and rollers, NFL stud Shawne Merriman and music and movie bad boy Tyrese Gibson who wore great rock T-shirts. We had the son of The Boss, The Supreme, Diana Evan Ross, doing it with no help from mom, he better as we know that woman sets the stage for style.

A new face to me, at least, was actress Katerina Graham. Loved the idea of her dress, but the execution was wrong. I enjoyed seeing Chrisette Michele. I love her music. Kevin Frazier was there. Good to see him on the other side of the red carpet. Little Miss Jurnee Smollett has grown up and turned into quite a fashion force and a heart breaker. I fell for her in Eve’s Bayou and been following her since. I want to dress her for something, shameful plug, hot shalot, holla. Camille McDonald showed us there is life after her appearance on cycle two of the hit “America’s Next Top Model.” Go on, Miss One, with your signature walk!

Newcomer Hot Dollar was happy to speak to us about his threads and what he bought with his signing bonus. He is one colorful dude. With his personality, he’s gonna make it. I definitely need to dress him. Director Jonathan Mannion surprised me on the carpet. Love that dude – always keeps it simple but is a killer director and photographer. Let’s work, Jon. I missed Nelly! Damn! He came in after I went in to party. I would have loved to have a chat with him. I have styled him. Dude got style! He stays in it.

Tag Body Spray was definitely in the house, those who weren’t wearing it, by the end of that night they knew about it and the next time they got dressed that would be the finishing touch to the million dollar outfit, especially if I was doing the stylin’. Calling all stylists, get at me so we can give you some of our scents or tell you where to get them, so your hot clients would hold on to you forever. As you can see, the support for JD and TAG was outstanding. Stay tuned for more from me. Wherever there is urban fashionista TAG and I will be in style and in attendance.
